Job Description
Great Basin College (GBC) seeks a dynamic and enthusiastic leader to fill the position of Director of GBC - NORCAT Mine Skills Training in Elko, Nevada. The Director will lead and inspire a team of trainers and staff in Elko to support our clients across Nevada, primarily in the mining sector. This person will have a strong understanding of health and safety, training, mining, and outstanding communications skills. The Director of GBC - NORCAT Mine Skills Training will be focused on building the GBC - NORCAT Mine Skills Training brand, developing and delivering on a strong customer pipeline, and delivering / administering key training programs for the Nevada market.
This "A" contract (12-month) administrative faculty position is located in Elko, Nevada on the main campus and reports to and will be supervised by the GBC Dean of Workforce and Industry. NORCAT's COO may give guidance to the Director with respect to his or her daily tasks in connection with the NORCAT-Mine Skills Training program. NORCAT's COO will also provide high-level guidance to the Director in terms of target market, sales cycle, training offerings, marketing, advisory services, and other operational activities related to day-to-day business.
This position is grant funded.
Qualifications
- Minimum of ten years of working experience in the mining industry with experience in a supervisory/management role, preferably with experience in training and development

Responsibilities
Duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Work in partnership with the GBC - NORCAT Mine Skills Training executive team and key stakeholders to develop and lead a regional go-to-market strategy for the continued growth of the Elko Training Center.
- Provide day-to-day leadership and management of the Elko office including, but not limited to, building the team, developing and managing the annual budget, creating marketing / sales materials, delivering training programs, managing the facilities, and representing GBC - NORCAT Mine Skills Training at trade shows and community events.
- Develop business relationships and build a customer pipeline of targeted prospects in mining and other key sectors in the state of Nevada to sell GBC - NORCAT Mine Skills Training productivity and health / safety training programs, services, and resources.
- Serve as a "player/coach" as needed including serving as a program instructor and delivering GBC - NORCAT Mine Skills Training programs to our customers.
- Participate and share insight into continuous improvement opportunities to enhance the overall customer satisfaction with GBC - NORCAT Mine Skills Training programs and services.
- Work with prospective customers, partners, and GBC - NORCAT Mine Skills Training staff to identify and potentially administer new training opportunities for the mining industry.
Travel
The position may require driving to other GBC campuses, with or without reasonable accommodation as per the Americans with Disabilities Act, with possible overnight stays to coordinate students and programs throughout the service area. There must be a commitment to the GBC mission to serve rural Nevada. The successful candidate will participate in several state-wide or national meetings each year that require overnight travel.
Compensation Grade
Administrative Faculty - D
The budgeted salary range for this position is $85,470 - $113,200
Salary is based on relatable education and experience, internal equity and budgets.

Grants-in-aid for Faculty Employees
Great Basin College is proud to provide a reduced-rate tuition benefit to faculty and qualified dependents. Faculty can take up to six credits per semester at a reduced rate. Dependents of faculty have unlimited credits, but in order to be eligible children must be unmarried and under the age of 24 and must receive at least 50% of their financial support from the employee and/or employee's spouse or domestic partner.

Newly hired faculty must assure that their official transcripts are sent by the degree granting institution(s) to Great Basin College Human Resources Office within 30 days from the effective date of employment. Regionally accredited institutions must have awarded academic degrees.
If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet qualification requirements, you must show that your education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university. Any expense related to the evaluation will be the responsibility of the candidate.
