Assistant Professor of Instruction/Lecturer/Site Coordinator for Miner Teacher Residency (MTR)
The Site Coordinator plays a critical role in teacher preparation at UTEP. They are full-time clinical faculty members who are partially housed within partnering, PK-12 school districts/campuses. Site coordinators serve three major roles. They serve as (1) the liaison between the university and school district, (2) instructors for college courses and mentor teacher trainings, and (3) instructional coaches for their teacher candidates. Site Coordinators form part of a vibrant professional team supported by Lead Site Coordinators. This is a grant-funded position with a focus on Computer Science teacher preparation and is subject to availability of funds.

- Develop leadership skills as manager, facilitator, mentor, clinically-embedded instructor
Primary Responsibilities of a Site Coordinator
University-School Liaison:
- Collaborate with district and school administrators to select high-quality mentor teachers
- Conduct annual mentor teacher orientations and quarterly mentor teacher trainings
- Communicate regularly with principals and mentor teachers on progress of teacher candidates
- Collect, analyze, visualize and share performance assessment data and mentor teacher survey data
- Convene and facilitate quarterly partnership meetings (Governance Meetings)
Clinical Faculty/Instructor:
- Teach 1-2 undergraduate courses per semester in addition to weekly residency seminar
- Participate in planning/alignment related to undergraduate curriculum
- Lead weekly residency seminars with teacher candidates
- Co-facilitate Data Dialogues with faculty on a semester basis
Instructional Coach for Teacher Candidates:
- Supervise one or more cohorts (up to 25) of teacher candidates during their year-long residency
- Conduct formal performance assessments (POP Cycles) of teacher candidates 4 times/year (twice/semester)
- Conduct eight walkthroughs/year to collect data and provide ongoing support to teacher candidates
- Maintain communication and collaboration with mentor teachers in support of teacher candidates
- Ensure recording, uploading (within 48-hours of observation) and accurate labeling of POP cycle (pre-conference, observation of lesson, post-conference) recordings into video storage
Professional Development:
- Attend and participate in Site Coordinator training and ongoing professional development meetings
- Attend department faculty/program meetings
Professional conduct:
- Follow all rules and guidelines established by the district for acceptable Professional Conduct and Dress
- Establish and maintain mutual respect, trust, communication and confidentiality with teacher candidates and school/district personnel
- Maintain a frequent, recurring presence in the school sites
Job Requirements:
- Master's or doctoral degree in Education field
- Extensive experience as a classroom teacher, particularly in a Computer Science or STEM field
- Experience as a mentor, coach, or teacher leader
- Texas teaching certificate in relevant teaching fields (preferred: administrative certificate)
